2003 BIGFOOT OPEN
Bigfoot was once again a huge success thanks to a lot of things. Great Weather, a great range, a unique format and most of all you coming out and enjoying yourself. The Black Knight Bowbenders Thank you, one and all, for coming.
· Check out this Sunday’s Asbury Park Press for a cool article by Bob Cullinane on Bigfoot and Archery
Our club recently purchased an additional 10 acres of land, giving us over 40 acres to grow into. We obviously hit our savings hard and your support did a lot to get us out of the red.
This year I particularly enjoyed seeing Traditional, Dot and 3-D shooters all enjoy one shoot as one family – None of us can make it alone and we need to do this format more often.
The Traditional “Last Man Standing” awards went to:
1st -- Mike Orlic
2nd-- Paul Muehleisen
3rd-- Walter Quick
4th-- Barry Schulman
5th-- Bart Keil
6th-- Jim Helle
This was a first ever Traditional event of this type and it went over great – This was the first time I ever watched “Traditional” shooters compete and it was exciting. It made me want to pull out my stick bow and get back to my roots. Awards from Grumpy’s Archery, Stick & String & A&M plus a great looking plaque made the victory even sweeter for the top 6 shooters listed above – The sudden death shoot off between Orlic & Muehleisen was dynamite. Thanks to Paul Winans for running the event and his thoughtful input in creating it. Paul will accept input from any Traditional Shooter who has a good idea! Paul Winans [crkd_arrow@juno.com]
The 3-D winners were:
Fixed Site Release Rob Cramer 296
Movable Site Release Darren Sneddon 275
Fixed Site Release (Female) T Frake 183
Fixed Site Fingers Marvin Mahana 277
Recurve Longbow Mike Orlic 243
Positive comments were made about the totally different 3-D layout that Ken Orlando of BKB designed. It sure was different.

The top 8 shooters competed for $1600 and the winners were –
Dave Cousins $1000 Cash – Steve Jervis $600 and it was a thrill to watch these top 8 guys pound the x ring! Thanks to Ron Yates for running the Skins game without a hitch and for not killing anyone. The “Skins” is 100% Rons idea and he has single handedly solicited the Cash Prizes from the generous sponsors above. If you ever had to ask for $$ it is not easy – Thanks Ron – And you can thank the sponsors with your business.
So ---- what gear did the BIG DOGS shoot those killer scores with?????
This may not be 100% complete but what is here is fairly accurate.
